No. You can book any Tomorrow Health Check yourself. If a result needs follow-up, your specialist explains what it means and, with your permission, writes to your GP.
You can feel healthy and still have things worth knowing. Raised blood pressure, raised cholesterol and early changes in the arteries usually cause no symptoms. If you have symptoms now, such as chest pain, breathlessness or palpitations, speak to your GP or call NHS 111 first. In an emergency, call 999.
Your specialist explains what the finding means, how important it is and what should happen next. Where further tests or treatment are needed, we tell you clearly and, with your permission, write to your GP.
A CT calcium score scan is a static image taken at rest. It shows the amount of disease within the heart’s blood vessels only. While it is good at telling you the degree of disease in the heart, it gives no information on whether, or how, that disease is affecting the heart’s function. And because it looks only at the blood vessels of your heart rather than your cardiovascular system as a whole, it is not as good at determining your risk of other cardiovascular diseases, such as stroke, aneurysm or peripheral arterial disease, which our testing does.
The Tomorrow Health Check uses dynamic tests that can detect not only whether you have disease, but also what effect it is having on your body. We also test you while you exercise, which shows us what your body does under stress: we believe this is a much more reliable way of detecting meaningful cardiovascular disease. Our testing also avoids ionising radiation and its associated risks.
Annual follows a Health Check, Ultimate or Ultimate+ assessment and keeps your specialist relationship going, with ongoing oversight, tracking and reassessment. It costs £59, £99 or £139 a month depending on your programme, over a 24-month term.
